A little bit about our process and how we work
Installed within 1-2 weeks:
With other traditional building processes, you must live with disruption for a prolonged period. With yardbox, we are in and out, installing your dream space with minimal hassle, mess, or disruption to your everyday life.
Modular Construction:
Modular construction allows us to install on time and on budget. Less waste on materials and time mean savings for you, whilst ensuring we create a sustainable product.
Lack of access is not a problem as we can flat-pack. If a bespoke build is required, we can construct your yardbox to suit the space or shape required.
How it works
1. Contact us via email or phone:
One of our sales team will be happy to discuss your requirements, your budget, what you want to achieve and what we can offer.
2. Choose your model:
Select your desired yardbox from our product range. If your requirements are outside of our range, one of our design team can help create a bespoke yardbox, tailored to your needs.
3. Ensure you site is suitable:
Check local planning laws to ensure your yardbox is allowed within permitted development (See below for some more guidelines).
4. Design consultation:
Visit our showroom in Downpatrick to discuss design options and budget. We can also carry out a virtual consultation if travel is not possible.
5. Site visit:
We will schedule a site visit, if required, to assess the requirements for installation. This can be carried out over video call if needed.
6. Confirm your design:
We will firm up the design confirming all your choices, including requirements for any groundworks or foundations.
7. Confirm final quotation:
We will provide you with a final quotation. Once we receive a 50% deposit, we will commence with ordering your windows and doors.
8. Arrange finance:
If finance is required, our customers can now apply for finance online by visiting:

9. Groundwork + foundations:
Once permissions are in order, we will get to work installing foundations and services (Options include concrete base slab or ground screws).
10. Installation:
Your yardbox will be installed by or skilled team within 1-2 weeks. When complete, 50% final payment is due, and then the keys are yours!

Planning Regulations:
Garden rooms can be built within permitted development in most cases. It is important that you check this with your local council.
Planning regulations differ slightly between the UK and Ireland.

Foundation types:
Depending on the intended purpose of your yardbox we can provide different foundation options. In most cases, ground screws can be used, especially when installing a yardbox Pro or yardbox Living unit.
We also can install pre-cast concrete beams for the base of your yardbox. These can be easily relocated if required.
If you are looking for a yardbox Fitness unit, it is normally best to install a concrete base, especially if you are going to be lifting heavy weights.
We are also happy for you to pre-install your own foundation system. This will help with the speed of the installation!
Specify your design:
The beauty of a yardbox is that it can be tailored to your tastes and preferences. Once you choose your model, our sales team can discuss the various options of doors and cladding.
Our range of cladding includes Siberian Larch, Western Canadian Red Cedar, Composite, Cembrit or uPVC.

You need enough space to accommodate the unit, an accessible garden (even if we need to access through the house), and most importantly check with local authorities it falls within permitted development, or if you require planning permission.

Depending on the size and model, your yardbox will either be built using insulated panels, or if it is bespoke, it will be a full timber-frame or light-weight steel frame construction. At yardbox we have skilled tradesmen with years of experience, and each yardbox is crafted with care to the highest quality standards.
